Milk & Honey

Rupi Kaur

Before even opening “Milk and Honey” for the first time — I knew.

I knew, without a doubt, that I’d find connection. Not the kind of connection that sparks for a few moments then glimmers away. But the kind that blinks and flashes like a lighthouse.

Like a welcome home. The type of connection that simultaneously makes you feel seen, safe, raw, and naked. A friend in the form of printed pages in a binded book. Five dimensional words that carry color and feeling.

I could list my favorite page. Or the best lines. I could tell you to flip to page X because of Y. All in the hopes that you’ll find Z. But the truth is, “Milk and Honey” isn’t just a drop of milk and a dash of honey. It’s an ocean. A galaxy filled to brim with a breath of truth. A necessary creation.

If you haven’t read it, read it.

If you’ve already read it, read it again. Rupi Kaur’s words are important, especially now.

We are in crucial times.

Slip into your silk,

pour a cup of tea,

drop of milk and dash of honey.

There is healing at the bottom of the cup. You just have to drink it first.
